When technologie lets down to be the utopia that cure lonliness
(The paradox of social network Meetic)
Abstract
As the number of people living alone grows, the use of social networks dedicated to providing romantic relationships increases. This unanimously accepted approach generates a paradox: today´s citizen looks to technology for the solution to loneliness, but at the same time behaves in a way that takes him away from his goal. Mathematical and psichological principles impede rapprochement. This article analyzes this duality trough the Meetic portal, the leading spanish network of contacts. For three years, two hundred users have been followed and it has been proven that digital culture has entered the private realm of feelings quite naturally. But the hope of reaching a live in company fades because the aspirat falls prey to the laws of the market.
