The Professionalization of Communication for Solidarity: diagnosis and proposals for the field in Spain
Abstract
The professionalization of the communication is an object of study for researchers from different areas. This paper discusses the professionalization of communicators of non-governmental organizations. After making a conceptual review of the field in communication for development, we work with the concept of communication for solidarity (proposed in González Álvarez, 2010), to develop the way of understanding the professionalism that is associated with this idea. Based on data of diagnosis of the state of communications in the Third Sector in Spain, this article extracts operational consequences to improve the dynamics of work and the general understanding among journalists and communicators of the non-profit organizations. Ultimately, it calls for recover the social function of journalism with the objective of achieving a more informed, fair and solidary society.Downloads
