Peace Journalism as a Paradigm of Communication for Social Change: characteristics, dimensions and barriers
Abstract
Peace journalism is a relatively new paradigm oriented to social change. Its main objective is to equip communication professionals with the analytical and practical tools required to report constructively and ethically about conflicts and wars. But it is also a challenge for understanding conflicts, the relationship between media and society and the role journalists can or must play in conflict situations. The aim of this article is to develop a theoretical review of peace journalism related to definitions, characteristics, concepts and dimensions. This revision will also allow as to point out the barriers for peace journalism success as a model of alternative communication for the construction of a culture of peace.Downloads
