From the court of Heaven to genealogical hagiography. Saintliness and nobility (16th and 17th centuries)
Abstract
This article analyses the presence of genealogical topics in the dedicatories to noblemen and women of the 16th and 17th hagiographic accounts. These topics are framed by two main concepts. On one side, the teological idea that presented Heaven as an aristocratic Baroque royal court. On the other, the teological holiness of noble saints capitalised by families, noble hourseholds and lineages.
