And how they travel the souls: religious panorama in times of the Emperor, between Spain and Europe
Abstract
Bearing in mind that in the sphere of the transcendency the topics sometimes ride between periods and reigns; that the spiritual thing and the religious thing, if for the first thing we understand the position of the elite or of the minority, lay or ecclesiastic, and, for the second thing, that of the “people” or majority, also often appear in complex mixture difficult to segregate; and that if there is stage of the history of Spain in which Europe counted specially, that is of the fifth Charles of the German empire and first of the Spanish Habsburg, this contribution, choosing necessarily between the rich and leafy cultural production to the effect, analyzes both elements that better symbolize both indicated levels, this is, spiritual currents –doctrinal and theological positions–, and pious feeling –imaginary religious–, without forgetting, in both cases, the detour, the transgression, the heterodoxy.Downloads
