At the service of a new Queen: some remarks on the formation of Marie Louise of Savoy’s Household (1701-1703)
Abstract
This paper reflects the interest aroused over the last decades in the European Historiography by the studies on the Royal Households. In particular, my aim is to analyze the characteristics of the formation of Marie Louise of Savoy’s Household between 1701 and 1703. My goal is not to describe the different departments and positions of the Queen’s Household, but, on the contrary, to pay attention to the agents of power that took part, at Madrid and Versailles, in the process of selection of Marie Louise of Savoy’s servants.Downloads
