Music documents in archives and libraries: a rich heritage for research and sound retrieval
Abstract
This paper offers an overview of spanish libraries and archives whose collections allow us to learn about the musical heritage of the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries. The work of the most representative composers of their time, those who had recognition and fame, has served as a guide for us. The documents not only show us his creations, but also inform us about his life and musical practices in their different contexts. From churches to theaters, through palaces and popular festivals, music was experienced as an everyday and inseparable element of the culture of the modern period
