Gender and communication in scientific journals and conferences
Abstract
Gender studies are a mature researching field that cross another researching areas such as Communication and Media studies. In fact, the combination of both is creating a growing researching line in the Spanish metasearch field (Caffarel et al., 2018). Present work analyses Communication & Media research in Spain from the gender perspective, in the two main scientific publishing channels: Spanish Communication and Media research Association Conferences and best indexed Spanish Communication and Media scientific journals, trying to discover who investigates, from which Institutions or geographical locations research takes place and which are their topics of interest. Obtained results show that Communication & Media research from gender perspective is mainly made from women and their focus of interest is the Media gender representations, the feminine roles and stereotypes.
