La fantasticheria visionaria di Giorgio Manganelli in Centuria: Cento piccoli romanzi fiume
Abstract
Fantastic in this presentation has been posited as being the most appropriate key of interpretation of Centuria and the inventory of the creatures presented by Manganelli consequently sorted into four categories. This also proves how 20th century fantastic is wholly cerebral. The analysis of the creatures which make up the collection highlights two different attitudes. On the one hand, Manganelli recovers the most traditional fantastic traits in which nostalgia, typical of 20th century fantastic, echoes dismay and confusion. On the other hand, Manganelli reacts to the traditional repertoire, thwarts its terrifying aspects and mocks them by resorting to the absurd. As Manganelli admits, the linguistic field is directly linked with fantastic. For this reason, particular care has been given to the analysis of syntactic structure, which at times expands into paratactic forms, yet at times is made more complex by the use of hypotactic structures. The lexical field has also been given careful consideration since it highlights how the writer plays with words and creates boldly imaginative lexical items, a dazzling array of adjectives and a whole range of unexpected solutions.Downloads
