Clelia Romano Pellicano: The feminist daughter of Italian Renaissance
Abstract
The aim of this article is to analyze, from a social point of view, the essays published by the Italian writer Clelia Pellican between 1907 and 1909 in the magazines Nuova Antologia and La Donna, as the prologue written for the work La Donna e La Legge (1910), to justify their inclusion within the generation of women writers who became involved in the struggle for the realization of women’s rights within Italian society. Through them it is shown how the writer starts from a direct observation of working women with a subsequent commitment that leads her to manifest herself openly as a feminist woman.
