The The new digital documentation system of À Punt Mèdia. Evolution and challenges in the use and management of multimedia documents of the Valencian audiovisual heritage
Abstract
The new Valencian audio-visual platform, À Punt Media, belonging to the Corporació Valenciana de Mitjans de Comunicació, was built upon the foundations of the former Radiotelevisió Valenciana, RTVV, five years after its traumatic closure in 2013. This closure left in a very precarious situation the workers who were the guarantees, along with the Filmoteca, of the Valencian audio-visual heritage. The Documentation Department, engaged at that time in a constant process of transformation and migration towards a new content management and storage digital system, was left in a legal and labour no-man’s hand. Despite all this and facing very adverse circumstances, the Documentation Department workers managed to keep and extend the audio-visual heritage, by laying the foundations and turning on an updated and efficient management and multimedia archive system. This was a challenge to start the production and digital broadcasting system integrated in the new audio-visual platform.
