The concept of Spain in the popular songbook: text, image, music and video
Abstract
The main objective of the article is to analyze, through a selection of 23 popular songs, those components that allow establishing a concept of Spain through them. As a consequence, a threefold approach is established: those we call Spain absent, Spain praised and loved, and problematic Spain. In the text of the songs, topics and traditions are discovered that make possible the establishment of such approaches that contribute to shaping an image of Spain traditionally shared by sectors of the Spanish and Latin American population and of projection abroad.
