Piety and prosperity. An interpretation of Solon’s Prayer to the Muses
Abstract
This article presents an interpretation of Solon’s Elegy to the muses that defends its unitarian style. The pray of the beginning generates the following considerations; at the same time, this considerations show the necessity of the pray. In this way, the Elegy points out the inseparability of prosperity (ólbos) and piety. This lesson of the poem will be confirmed in the Solonian legislative work.Downloads
