Creative action through art as a way to exercise the right to self-determination
Abstract
The concept of creativity has been transforming over time, and the definitions that emerge from it situate us in different places depending on the prism through which we look at it, and for whom it is intended. In this article, we will present a brief critical reflection that points to a revision of the concept of creativity that has been guarded by the Fine Arts, which has generated barriers for the recognition of people in situation of functional diversities, restricting their creative capacity and establishing myths around the conditions required to be creative. Thus, the following article poses some questions that invite us to stop and think about who are considered to be creative. Also, whether it is creativity that should become universal or whether it is the conditions that facilitate or hinder its deployment and participation. And finally, how creativity and its deconstruction allow us to generate new accessible scenarios for social transformation, and creative and self-determined action by everyone.
