Al-Mahdī: the islamic messiah in ibn ‘arabī’s work
Abstract
The theme of a Messiah coming from the offspring of the Prophet with well-marked political nuances, with claims of justice, political liberation and domination over enemies has been a predominant idea that runs through eschatological literature. The present study has the purpose of studying and translating the portrait of al-Mahdī, the expected Messiah, in the work of Ibn ‘Arabī: Genealogy, prophetic actions, political dimension, councillors, science.
