Abstract

The Arabic textual and archaelogical sources highlight how much the Guadalquivir, throughout the Islamic centuries of its history, always maintened close relations with Cordoba : the river contributed to forging an open city on the river and the river opened on the city, which fitted on its banks to harvest its resources. This interaction resulted in a singular meeting, that of two banks united by the Roman bridge, but which were back to back.
