The new stage of Amaltea

2019-08-08

A few months ago, we made the biggest change since the funding of Amaltea when we updated our system to OJS3. We are using this technical change as an opportunity to improve other aspects of the journal, such as our communication to authors, reviewers, and readers, the dissemination of each article to other researchers and the creation of guides to facilitate working with OJS3 during the publication process.

This announcement is the first step, and here we list the recent and upcoming improvements of Amaltea:

Communication and Internationalization

In the last meeting of the Editorial Team, we decided that, after issue 11, we will not accept any articles or reviews in French. From now on, we will only accept articles in English and Spanish: English, because it is the language of academia, and Spanish, because Amaltea is, nevertheless, a Spanish journal.

The main language of the journal will be English as well, but we will also reply in Spanish and will offer a translation for all announcements that are posted in the journal.

The last important aspect regarding communication is being able to properly use OJS3 to send and review articles. For this, we will develop guides in the following months that will be updated in the journal.

Projects and Events

We publish Amaltea once per year and, while we are not immersed in the editorial process of the journal, we are organizing the International Conference on Myth-Criticism, working on research projects such as Acis&Galatea Project or preparing events such as art exhibitions or "mythical walks" around Madrid.

From now on, you will also find information about these events in the Announcements section of the journal.

Dissemination of Research: Indexation and Social Networks

Data suggests that being indexed in the best databases is not enough, and year after the year, the so-called alt-metrics are becoming more relevant in the various processes of scientific evaluation. This also causes an increment in citations of articles. We will start using social networks more actively and we will promote the articles of our authors on Twitter and Facebook:

- Twitter: https://twitter.com/mythcriticism

- Facebook (Group): https://www.facebook.com/groups/mythcriticism/

The Facebook Group is open, so feel free to share your news or research about mythcriticism.

Of course, this does not mean that we forget about traditional indexation, and we will edit the current page to provide a clearer image of the databases and systems that have evaluated us.

We thank the Servicio de Publicaciones Complutense and our various collaborators at ACIS, Grupo de Investigación de Mitocrítica and Asteria, Asociación Internacional de Mitocrítica, for the hard work during the last months.
