Abstract

Since Eguren, Peru's coastal nature has been a central referent for a poetry which has made the coast a key landscape for the dialogue between space and the written word. The article analyses Sebastián Salazar Bondy's essay Lima la horrible (1964), in its principal Mexican and Peruvian editions, through the deconstruction of the myth of Colonial Arcadia. Of the author's aesthetic perception, emphasis is made on his passion for cultura and the importance he gave to artistic phenomena, particularly architecture and its relation to the desert.
