A God's Dream: the Narrative Structure of Niebla by Unamuno and “Las ruinas circulares” by Borges
Abstract
This article analyzes comparatively the novel Niebla by Unamuno and the short story “Las ruinas circulares” by Jorge Luis Borges. In both texts we can find a mise en abyme which supports an image of life as the dream of a superior being. The narrative structure therefore represents a view of the world that is here, in our opinion, consciously opposed to the one presented in Genesis´ creation myth.Downloads
