Abstract

Based on a true anecdote, the need for publishers to classify fictional texts according to canonical genres (above all, the novel and the short story), the article reflects on the “problem” raised by new narrative forms such as the very short story (several varieties are offered). Not only does it analyse very short fiction and expound its basic characteristics; it also debates the task of all literary critics: theorization, classification, categorization.
