Algunos aspectos del cuento de los Novísimos narradores cubanos
Abstract
The eighties have been years of searching and discovery in Cuban literature, and the short story is the genre which has best expressed the need for new forms, new voices to present a fragmented reality in moments of crisis. Through this genre and the rupture they undertake, the Novísimos open new paths for the island’s narrative: hypertextuality, rewritings of testimonial prose, the use of very short tales and stories or the «cuenti- novela» («Short story-novel») —in the tradition initiated by Macedonio Fernández—, and likewise the combination of writing with visual artistic expression —in particular, painting and photography— are some of original characteristics which can be associated with the name of the «Novísimos».Downloads
