Ideology and image of the father in the short story Oriane, Tía Oriane
Abstract
In 1975 Marvel Moreno published the story Oriane, Aunt Oriane. In this story, Moreno exposes an unfortunate reality caused by a patriarchal ideology that subdues two women in the present and in the past. In this context, the images that represent the patriarch and the family are significant, because they summon the family dogmas that are collected under the powerful figure of the father. However, from my point of view, in this situation there is also a contradiction between what Lacan calls the symbolic and the real; that prevents María, the protagonist, from assuming her feminine nature. Therefore, in this essay, it is intended to explain how in history Oriane, Aunt Oriane, images externalize tensions between feminine nature and patriarchal ideology. Understanding that the first is the place of the real and the second of the symbolic.
