“Con mi alma sensible debí haber sido poeta”. Marion Delorme, actress, singer, courtesan, Rubén Darío's lover
Abstract
We seek to identify Marion Delrme (or de Lorme), the pseudonym of a remarkably beautiful actress, singer, and courtesan who was a lover of Rubén Darío during his first visit to Paris in July 1893. From the newspapers of the time we have gathered some information on her personality, biographical details, literary ambitions, and her involvement in various scandals of the Third French Republic. We argue that their relationship was quite a deep one, based on real affinities, and not a mere passing fling, although Darío was aware of his lover’s “dark side”.Downloads
