The Brazilian Arris of Ibero-American Chronicle: Notes on a Necessary Incorporation
Abstract
This article discusses the limited dialogue between the Hispanic-American critical apparatus towards the profuse nineteenth century and early twentieth century Brazilian chronicle. To do so, it pans the main Spanish-speaking critical approaches regarding the chronicle in the continent (González, 1983; Ramos, 1989; Rotker, 2005). There, it discusses the centrality of the modernist chronicle in those approaches, a corpus that is usually researched from authors like José Martí and Rubén Darío. In light of the above, we propose comparative vectors that could, through the Brazilian incorporation and the analysis of a chronicler like Machado de Assis, contribute to a less restricted view of the gender in an Ibero-American context.Downloads
