"Era costa brava é mal país en tierra”: wayfarers and navigators to the northwest of the New Spain
Abstract
In the middle of the 16th century the Viceroy of the New Spain, Antonio de Mendoza, sends two expeditions to the northwest in search of Seven Cíbola's Cities: a group for land supervised by Vásquez de Coronado and a group by sea supervised by Hernando de Alarcón. Both Relations that narrate these trips are analyzed illustrating the speech of the navigators and the speech of the wayfarers.Downloads
