Sartre's theatre in Buenos Aires: Dirty Hands, stage version by Eva Halac (Teatro San Martín, 2022)
Abstract
The following paper explores the latest reception of Jean-Paul Sartre's plays in Buenos Aires, based on Eva Halac's stage version of Dirty Hands at the Teatro San Martín (2022). Its interest lies in its proximity in time (which implies a position on the validity of Sartre's text in the 21st century), the singular politics of difference implemented by the director, and the positive significance it has had in contemporary theatre in Buenos Aires, particularly among spectators and specialised critics.
