Abstract

With the passage of the policy to the screen, the gestures of the politicians became elements which serve their speeches and which contribute to show their personality. In this paper, we tried to prove that the victory of Nicolas Sarkozy in the presidential elections of 2007 was due to his gestural image that he knew perfectly how to build and market near the electorate via his mediatized speeches and interviews. We studied his appearance, his posture and his gestures in the debate of May 2nd 2007, which opposes Sarkozy to his socialist competitor, Royal, in order to analyze how he triumphed by his body and his gestures.
