Le Cahier de l’Herne Annie Ernaux : writing as sharing
Abstract
The publication of a « Cahier de l’Herne » is a major event for lovers of literature. The one devoted to Annie Ernaux has attracted a great deal of interest, both in France and abroad. This article examines and questions its composition. It shows how the book dialogues with the work, proposing critical interpretations that renew our understanding of it. Drawing on contributions as well as unpublished texts and interviews by the author, it hypothesises that Annie Ernaux's writing can be read from the perspective of giving and sharing.
