Abstract

In this study, we are interested in the interpretation of identitemes in the literary text and its translation. Identitemes are first examined in relation to the phenomenon of linguistic frozenness and, correlatively, to collective memory. The relationship between the process of punning manipulation that gives rise to the word pun and the patrimonialization process that ensures the birth of an identiteme is also examined. It is through the cultural dimension contained in any literary text that we study the role of identitemes, culturemes, culturally marked phrasemes, word-plays and pragmatemes, by trying to establish a relationship between the cultural and the identarian. The analysis of translation and the conceptualization of the difficulties posed by the translation of these different types of expressions are revealing, as they allow us to identify certain distinctive features of identitemes.
