A case study: Calzados Coloma, a pioneer company of Spanish Fordism
Abstract
Reviewing over the years the research work process that gave rise to the doctoral thesis defended in 2010 is stimulating. It is a reflective process on the research carried out then, but also on the theoretical, methodological approaches and strategies of current research.
From approaches from disciplines such as Work Sociology, Social History and Industrial Archaeology, a case study was proposed: the company Calzados Coloma. In an eminently rural La Mancha territory, we find a paradigmatic company in the introduction of Taylorist and Fordist systems that becomes a reference for the application of the principles of the Scientific Organization of Labor in the Footwear Industry in Spain. These transformations have an impact on the economic and social development of Almansa and Castilla La Mancha.
