Abstract

The purpose of the article was to explore the employment status of caregivers of girls and boys in foster homes in Mexico. For this, a documentary investigation was carried out. The Social Assistance Housing Census carried out in 2015 was used as a reference; as well as information provided by the National Council for Standardization and Certification of Labor Competencies, regarding the certification in the competence standard EC0934 Attention of children and adolescents in social assistance establishments. The investigation allowed to account for different types of caregivers, an incipient recognition of this activity and possible lines of research.
