In the Shade of Baroque. Giambattista Vico and our Time
Abstract
Vico’ thought represents the philosophical fulfilment of the Baroque Culture, that extraordinary cultural experience centred on the creative and inventive faculty of ingenuity, as opposed to the rationalistic, Cartesian line of thought prevailing in the modern age. In this way, from the depths of the Baroque culture, far from being dark and dusty but rather luminous and imaginative, Vico speaks in an unprecedented way to contemporary sensibility, helping to outline the features of a new vision of knowledge that has many points of contact with our time, commonly defined as postmodern, but which we could also call Neobaroque.
