Republicanism and Liberalism in Argentina during Post-Peronism: The Trajectories of the Cordovan Jurists Ricardo Cayetano Núñez, Pedro José Frías and Sebastián Soler (1955-1989)
Abstract
The following research explores the political and academic paths of three significant jurists from the province of Córdoba, Argentina, between 1955 and 1989: Ricardo Cayetano Núñez, Pedro José Frías and Sebastián Soler. The justification for this "triad" is nothing less than to highlight figures close to and representative of the national and international legal culture and their links with the current of republicanism. Including to this history of intellectuals a reflection on political languages, allows us to involve dimensions about the challenges that such identities imply. In this sense, the predicted context of post-Peronism perfectly illuminates the semantic tensions that concerned the three subjects in question who experienced certain difficulties in reconciling the concepts of democracy, freedom, order, and republic.
