We Are Not Hysterical, We Are Historical: Žižek, Butler, and the Problem of Sexual Difference
Abstract
This paper aims to analyze the debate between Žižek and Butler on the issue of sexual difference. To this end, first of all, we will try to define, through a reconstruction of the theoretical framework, the traditions of feminist thought of which they are heirs. Secondly, we will try to point out the points of divergence and convergence between the two positions, the one ontological and the other constructivist, to finally show the problematic field common to both that allows articulating a feminist perspective, away from the classic confrontations between ontology and biopolitics.
