Laclau: a Politics of Atagonism
Abstract
This paper focuses on the notion of “antagonism” as one of the main categories in Laclau`s thought. It recovers the different ways in which this notion was recreated by Laclau throughout his work. Beginning with the first characterization of antagonism as it appears in Hegemony and socialist strategy, we aim to show the changes suffered by this notion, to understand them as an ontological and political radicalization of the antagonism. Finally, we underline the importance of this notion to think a radical politics together with and emancipation’s project against the neoliberal hegemony.
