Latin America as an “object”: Traditions, Institution and Ways of Functioning
Abstract
The present essay aims to review the idea of Latin America according to different academic traditions and disciplines regarding their limitations and conceptual standpoints. Firstly, the relationship between those traditions and standpoints with an institutional context will be regarded. Secondly, the conflict between those standpoints and fragmentariness, irreducibility and temporariness of Latin American thought is remarked. Thirdly, the capability of Latin American thought of recognizing itself as heir of different traditions always under permanent review and transformation will be considered.Downloads
