Golden Age and "res publica": Arround the Classical Sources of Utopianism Vasco de Quiroga
Abstract
In this paper we discuss the classical sources –explicit and implicit– in Vasco de Quiroga’s work, considering that it is from a concrete interpretation of these sources, in conjunction with Christianity, where not only a particular conception of the world and history emerges, but also a concrete political practice, in order to give an alternative to the encomiendas. Thus, it is presented a way of thinking within the Hispanic tradition of ideas, in virtue of the dialogue with the classical world, the problematic issue of a right res publica indiana.Downloads
