Cranberry Words or Phraseologically Bound Words? Answers from a Corpus linguistic Perspective
Abstract
Cranberry words or phraseologically bound words are words that only exist within phraseological units. There are several listings of these words for German. However, corpus analysis has shown that not all those words only occur within phraseological units, but also have free use in the language. Due to corpus analysis some words move to the periphery of the category or stop belonging to it, while others are added. Establishing and analyzing the core of the category promises to reveal new knowledge about bound words.Downloads
