The Presence of the "Flâneur" in Dieter Forte’s "Tetralogie der Erinnerung"
Abstract
As a reflection of the modern city, the flâneur is caught between two times: the present, which is constantly changing, and the past, which remains in the shape of material vestiges. Since his emergence in literature, the course of the flâneur has been connected with the main historical, social and cultural changes, which are reflected in different urban textures. In all of them, the flâneur acts as a link between the old city and the overlapping new one. The aim of this article is to analyse the development of this historical and literary figure as a starting point to interpret Dieter Forte’s narrative work Tetralogie der Erinnerung (1992-2004).Downloads
