"El tañer de las campanas señaló el momento justo": looking for 'lo pueblo' between the urban and the rural
Abstract
Something as simple as the sound of the bells in the distance has the power to reach deep emotions related to our relational identity and anthropological needs such as security in a threatening world. The current phenomenon of the recovery of folklore and local identities in Spanish popular music shows how certain imaginaries are loaded not only with an iconographic and symbolic trajectory, but also with affections and longings that are individual, but also common. Through the dialogue between different songs and their audiovisual representation, we will be able to trace these echoes of other times, rhythms and relationships that ultimately reveal a discomfort with contemporary ways of life.
