Focus and Scope

 

The scope of the journal includes, but is not limited to, the following topics: essays on art and visual theory, aesthetics and visual culture aimed at the academic community, artists, political scientists, cultural anthropologists and professionals in cultural studies.

Presentation

Re-visiones is a journal of art and contemporary visual thought, bilingual, open access, with an annual periodicity and attached since its inception to R&D projects of the National Plan: "Images of art and rewriting of narratives in global visual culture" (HAR2009-10768), "Critical visualities: rewriting narratives through images" (HAR2013-43016-P) and "Critical visualities: cultural ecologies and research of the common" (http://www.visualidadescriticas.net/).

The design of the magazine and the layout of the first issues was the work of Fernando Baños and Carlos Fernández Pello. Subsequently, Alejandro Simón was responsible for the layout. Successive members of the editorial boards have been: Yayo Aznar (UNED), Josu Larrañaga (UCM), Diana Wechsler (MUNTREF) and Víctor del Río (USAL).

As of 2021 it begins its second era. It ceases to be bilingual and depends on the UCM Research Group: "Art, research, university, documents for a debate" https://www.ucm.es/arteinvestigacion/biblos-arte-e-investigacion-basada-en-la-practica (reference 970772): “Images of Art and Rewriting Narratives in the Global Visual Culture” (2009-2012) (HAR2009-10768), “Critical Visualities: The Re-writing of Narratives through Images” (2013-2016) (HAR2013-43016-P) and “Visualidades críticas: ecologías culturales e investigaciones del común” (http://www.visualidadescriticas.net/). From 2021 begins its second era. It is no longer bilingual and depends on the UCM Research Group: “Arte, investigación, universidad, documentos para un debate” https://www.ucm.es/arteinvestigacion/biblos-arte-e-investigacion-basada-en-la-practica (ref. 970772).

Interoperability protocols

Re-visiones provides an interface OAI-PMH (Open Archives Initiative – Protocol for Metadata Harvesting) that enables interoperability between different platforms and repositories through the exchange of metadata.
