Las cajas de ahorro y las cooperativas de crédito ante la crisis: evolución en su presencia territorial y en su operativa
Abstract
This paper examines the impact that the international economic and financial crisis is having on the behaviour of Spanish social banking institutions, particularly in their funding and localization strategies. First of all, we analyse the growing net borrowing of the Spanish economy in the former economic expansion cycle and how the national financial institutions were the primary source of foreign financing. Secondly, we analyse the evolution of territorial localization of saving banks and credit co-operatives, and of their lending and borrowing transactions. In this analysis we are going to difference two periods: since the beginning of nineties until August 2007, the start of the international financial, and a second period since the fourth quarter 2007 until now.Downloads
