The role of social economy in the process of economic recovery and transformation: analysis of strategies, plans and promotion policies in Europe and Spain
Abstract
The COVID-19 pandemic has generated a global health, economic, and social crisis unprecedented in recent history. The impact of the global crisis has affected different countries in different ways and at different levels. At the economic level, some of the main negative effects and challenges facing governments in different countries relate to job destruction, falling GDP, economic recession, increasing poverty, and social inequalities. In previous crises, entities that are part of the social economy have proven to be more resilient to these crises, thanks to their particular principles and characteristics, becoming a "gateway" to economic recovery. Therefore, the aim of this research is to identify what has been the response of both the European Union and Spain to the COVID-19 crisis and whether the social economy has been taken into account in this response. Finally, it is also needed to review what level of participation has been granted in the current process of economic recovery and transformation.
