Abstract

Foundations are one manifestation of Social Economy. Traditionally, these entities have been promoted by family environments giving room to family foundations. In Aragon, these entities are a 24% of the total of active foundations. The aim of this paper is to study the relationship between workers and volunteers in a nonprofit organization, as well as the influence of economic-financial characteristics of it in this relationship. To do that, it has been taken, as a starting point, a sample of 117 nonprofit organizations that operate in that region. To this aim, a regression analysis and a multigroup approach have been taken as starting point. In general terms, the obtained results show a complementary relationship between both human resources. Furthermore, it is note as the largest foundations, with strong liquidity, slightly indebted, dependent on public subsidies, low economic efficiency and dedicated to religious activities, intensify the relationship of complementarity between workers and volunteers.
