Cooperatives and labor companies as an engine of economic and social development: analysis of their economic impact on the region of Andalusia

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to analyze the importance of Cooperative Societies and Labor Companies in Andalusia and its contribution to the Social Economy in Spain. The role that these business organizations are taking the Social Economy in the current economic crisis makes further emphasize its social and economic functions, remaining fully in force as business models for sustainable and participatory economic development. To this end, an analysis of the creation of cooperatives and labor companies in the region of Andalusia is done, and by observing the main economic and social variables, it will be highlighting its key role in the creation of value, showing how the development of these business figures represents a satisfactory volume of business and employment, especially in times of crisis. In other words, this study attempts to show the growing importance of the Cooperative Societies and Industrial Societies, emphasizing its economic and social relevance.
