Educommunication for the preservation of the Amazon. Case study of Comunicarte Group, Colombia
Abstract
The crucial role of educommunication in protecting the Amazon rainforest and indigenous cultures in Colombia is analyzed, highlighting the environmental, socioeconomic, and humanitarian challenges faced by the region due to deforestation, illegal mining, and armed conflict. The structural inequality faced by ethnic communities, including Afro-descendant and indigenous populations, is emphasized, along with the importance of community initiatives to counteract these threats. Furthermore, the need for media representation reflecting the cultural diversity of these communities is underscored. The conclusion emphasizes the development of educational and communication strategies that promote the conservation of indigenous languages and cultures, by celebrating the cosmologies and knowledge of native communities, as well as advocating for a more inclusive and diverse media representation in Colombia.
