Estudio codicológico de la sección del xiuhpohualli del Códice Telleriano-Remensis
Abstract
The kind of work I present in this paper is rarely carried out in the field of studies of Mesoamerican codices: their codicological study. The importance of this analysis that should precede any later study of all these documents is revealed by the results presented here. By establishing the composition of the gathering that contains xiuhpohualli of the Codex Telleriano-Remensis we gather very interesting data. First of all, is seems highly probable that this section was added later to the rest of the document. The analysis makes it also clear that the actual folio 7r (nemontemi days) was not originally included into the xiuhpohualli, being a posterior addition. Finally, it brings evidence that the Codex Vaticanus A is not the translation of Telleriano, but that both of them were copied from another, now lost, original.Downloads
