Los límites de la ingeniería indigenista: la reestructuración del autogobierno entre los indios ticunas del Alto Amazonas

Keywords: Tikuna, indigenist policies, socio-political reestructuration

Abstract

The essay analyses the process of political reestructuration of the Tikuna Indians after their resettling in riverside villages subsequent to a long period of territorial scattering and social disruption stemming from the rubber patron's domination. The essay stresses the external origin of the new political institutions in the villages, imposed by indigenist organisms of the national states, and their weakness, due to strong individualism and social egalitarianism of the Tikuna society.
