Abstract

The real name of Adam is LUCA. The discovery of the genetic code allowed in 1960 to give LUCA this role of first organism of life on Earth. LUCA´s genes have come a long way to originate the three branches of life evolution: Archaea, Bacteria and Eucarya. In this long way many evolutionary mechanisms take place: mutations, symbiotic relationships or horizontal gene transfer (HGT). According to the characteristics of each domain, the specific weight of each mechanism is variable. According to the relative weight of each of them, the current evolutionary theories are established. The HGT has a great importance in the evolution of bacteria as a mechanism of genetic variability. Further, recently it has been shown that a bacterium can be transformed into a different one if it receives its genome.
