Between the 'need and urgency' and the indigenous rights: territorial claim in the south of the Metropolitan Region of Buenos Aires, Argentina
Abstract
In the past two decades the indigenous population of the Metropolitan Region of Buenos Aires (RMBA), has consolidated their local institutional participation throw spaces of ethnopolitical organization. The experiences of this phenomenon are diverse, according to the heterogeneity of ethnic and indigenous groups in the region. The aim of this work, is to describe the complexity involved between a claim of urban land and the state recognition in Argentine. To do this, we will focus on a recent experience started, years ago, by the el “Consejo Indígena de Almirante Brown" and the "Coordinación de Pueblos Originarios de Almirante Brown". Finally, we will point out on how the claim of urban indigenous territory is disputed in a field where the State recognize at the same time that cross, and limit the demand.
